This could be describing the argument from creationists against evolutionists regarding transitional fossils. Or it could be stating that fossils in general do not exist. In order for fossils to not exist then they could be considered alive as in the energy that lived within the fossil never ceased to exist, or we live in a simulated reality and the fossils are simply images of code.
