This is a surface level one. BET highly prioritizes content that depicts negative Black stereotypes, with the hopes that it’ll A.) Encourage Black people to live up to the stereotypes and be concerned more with superficial things than activism and politics, and B.) letting White audiences gawk at Black people behaving in an unflattering manner, and have them believe the stereotypes too.
