Maps have come in to question for some time. Mostly for the fact that it was difficult to show a sphere properly in a single dimension. A more accurate map was made not too long ago, it looks very different than what we have been shown for years. Some say that the distortion was done intentionally, to give less signifigance to some continents, countries or regions.
