Most Islamic histography related to the Crusades and the Crusader States only gained ‘popular interest’ during the mid 19th century; it is possible that the main scholarly analysis produced by said islamic scholars were produced by European imperialists, particularly the British, in order to forge a coherent singular narrative relating to the region’s antiquity.
