Conspiracy theorists often claim that PYOPS are used extensively by governments and secret organizations to manipulate public opinion, control populations, or even induce fear and confusion through disinformation campaigns. Some suggest that modern media, social networks, and even entertainment are tools used in a vast PYOPS campaign to keep the masses distracted from the true power structures.

Lunggompa is esoteric skill in Tibetan Buddhism, which is said to allow a practitioner to run at an extraordinary speed for days without stopping. This technique could be compared to that practised by the Kaihōgyō monks of Mount Hiei and by practitioners of Shugendō, Japan.
